TEDxPrishtina is a day-long event that will take place on October 11 2014, at Madeleine Albright in Prishtina, Kosovo. The theme of the event is newborn and it will tell the stories of Kosovo’s pioneers, innovators and inventors – the people who are rebuilding and rebranding Kosovo, one step at a time. We believe that our artists, our activists, our scientists and our athletes tell our collective story the best, and that their success is Kosovo’s success.

Prishtina is one of the youngest capitals of one of the world’s newest countries: Kosovo, a country that won its independence in 1999, and declared its independence in 2008. Independence has meant a new government, a new flag, a new passport, and a society undergoing massive transformation. Independence for Kosovo has meant being reborn, or to echo the words of a memorial in downtown Prishtina, newborn.

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, Ideas Worth Spreading. The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
