Wives of four martyrs support their families wit with their work in a small kitchen
Mulaku, who had never worked before, in 2010 took the opportunity of attending a training organized by IADK (The Initiative for Agricultural Development of Kosovo) in partnership with the Red Cross and the municipality of Vushtrri. The result of this training, with the help of IADK, was the establishment of this association which aims self-employment – in this particular case, preparing food for students of several schools in this municipality.
Students` crossroad: Studies are expensive and there are no available jobs
Initially, it is very difficult for students in Kosovo to find a part-time job, but even if one gets a job, the salaries are insufficient to handle monthly expenses. There are cases when you can go to lectures from the job, but on the other hand, I had to coordinate things. I decided to attend lectures one week and work the next week, otherwise I would lose my job or I wouldn`t get paid enough to handle my monthly expenses,” she says.
Tens of thousands euro unpaid for retirement contributions of cleaning workers
Fatmir Sfishta, the director of the Students` Center, also says that they had problems with the “Omi Impex” company since the company did not pay the retirement contributions for the employees, but he added that this company paid all the obligations for all the employees prior to finishing the three-year contract. However, the documents that KosovaLive was provided with speak differently – the obligations have not been fulfilled.
A project which gives young people a better critical thinking perspective
“The aim of this program is to develop critical thinking, considering that media are the largest source of information and therefore an essential part of our program, and taking into account that we get most of information from media, critical thinking is very necessary in analyzing and clarifying that information”, says Hana, who is also a supervisor in this program.
Olympic shooters from Kosovo form their own shooting club
They started their career in the shooting club “Shënjestra” in 2002 in Vitia, at very young age, 16-17 years old. After the death of the club’s founder and coach, the members changed the name to “Jeton Rama” in 2006, to honor his long contribution in the club. The coach discovered a lot of talented young individuals. Among them were Urata, Lumturie and Drilon.

We find some suspicious prices at markets. Take a look at the products that markets offer. At most markets, meat products are covered in ice and that says a lot about their quality and expiration. Some have started to turn blue. Look if the fridges are working properly, under neon lights meat looks fresher than in reality. Some chicken legs have excess bones that should be removed according to standards,” he says.
Violence against children is mainly kept unreported, between family walls
“It has been a long time since my father last beat me. But when he did it, he was not to blame because I deserved it. I used to be a spoiled child but I am not anymore, that’s why my parents have a better attitude toward me,” he says.

The factory will produce pants; women’s blazers, women’s skirts, jeans and men’s suits, and all production will be exported to Germany.
They prefer travelling by train, but where can one find a train
According to the law for the Railways of Kosovo, “Trainkos” is obliged to provide revenues by the tickets sold to passengers. A part of the revenues should be provided by “Infrakos” services, but also by the government or any public authority as a financial compensation for offering transport services for the general interest, or any other revenue or contribution from the public or private sector.
A growing trend: child marriages among Kosovars
Mervete Hashani, now 24 years old, was forced by her family to get married when she was still a minor. She says that she didn’t want to get married that early because she had goals for the future which her parents took away her by making that decision for her.

In this training, Annea Hapciu, innovation advisor at KosovaLive, taught them a few ways on how they can write articles in a correct and professional way. Also, Renea Begolli, video-producer at KosovaLive, taught them how to use the camera and some filming tricks to take more attractive shots for their videos.

“Healthy Kosovo” – Educating women for a cleaner and healthier environment
KosovaLive recently signed an agreement with the “Healthy Kosovo” project to use media as a means of education for increasing the knowledge of girls, women, pregnant women and mothers regarding the impact of air pollution and environmental degradation on their health. “
“Media Education” training
During this training the students learned how to detect fake news, what are their types, what are the dangers that they can cause, and ways on how they can protect themselves and others on not falling prey of fake news.
CircMedia – “Design thinking” workshop
These 20 young boys and girls from throughout Kosovo, worked in four teams to ideate new age media products that might not damage the environment, but even help it flourish. They looked at ways that they could make laptops use less energy, create professional cameras that use solar energy, decrease protective packaging for projectors and even invent a “botanical” billboard.
“Mediatnik” Training for In-depth Research
We held a one-day training for the students of journalism within Mediatnik project, implemented at KosovaLive. The purpose of the training is to prepare journalism students to do in-depth research.
“iEngage & iWrite” – Training about terrorism in Kosovo
During June, a team of participants within the iEngage&iWrite project are working on the topic of Kosovo’s security and risk from internal and external terrorism. Teuta Avdimetaj, a policy and security researcher, held a presentation about Kosovo’s susceptibility from internal and external terrorism. She also shared tactics on how to be cautious in the manner of reporting about terrorism, and evaluating sources of information and news about terrorism.
KosovaLive meeting with Bill Clinton
During the civil society meeting with president Bill Clinton in Kosovo, Annea Hapciu from KosovaLive talked about the organization’s work in the last two decades, using media as a means of dialogue, education and equality.
“Critical Media Literacy” in Prizren: Increasing awareness about identifying, evaluating and analyzing information
We held a workshop in Media Education with teachers. The workshop aims to equip teachers with methodologies, through which they can challenge their students to identify, manage, report and eliminate fake news. With the development of technology it is becoming everyday more challenging to evaluate news and information and through these workshops we are trying to prepare teachers to become more effective in teaching students on how to protect themselves from desinformation.
