KosovaLive in cooperation with Albany Associates, is launching the Call for Applications and nominations for the Journalism in pandemic award 2020.
The award will honour the work of three Kosovo journalists, video-journalists, bloggers and/or podcasters, who have demonstrated excellence in reporting and storytelling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the proliferation of disinformation as a result of easy social media access, credible journalism, based on professional and fact-based reporting has become ever-more important. Bursting the bubble of information noise in the internet to grasp the attention of audiences, while remaining rooted in professional journalism, has become one of the most daunting tasks of any journalist in this era.
This award aims to reward the work of journalists in Kosovo, who have professionally navigated the demands of audiences in social media with professional journalism.
Who may apply?
- Journalists, native born Kosovars, who work and live in Kosovo and work as freelancers or are employed in registered media in Kosovo
- Video-journalists, who use video as a storytelling tool.
- Podcasters, who transmit their stories through podcasts in various platforms or through radio.
- Bloggers, who have a personal blog and write about various topics about social causes.
A total of three awards are available for theFirst place: $350, Second place: $200 and Third place: $150.
The applications can be submitted in: Albanian, Serbian and/or English.
The selection process is based on anonymous votes by three jury members, experienced Kosovar journalists, who will each evaluate the submitted applications/nominations.
