Applications are now open for “GIRL BE HEARD”, a digital journalism, leadership, and production program at KosovaLive in partnership with Global Girl Media. Young women aged 17-25 with a strong interest in journalism are encouraged to apply. All applications must be received by the 1st of September, 2017.

Acknowledging that this project only cannot radically uproot the mentality, she considers this ”only one step taken in this direction”. Baseball is making its pitch in Kosovo

KBI had its first camp in Gjakova in 2014 after a series introductory events in the first two years. The camp lasted one week and consisted of KBI coaching different groups of schoolchildren on the basic fundamentals of baseball throughout the week. The event had more than 240 students participating throughout the week. There was a lot of hesitancy at first, as many of the children and teenagers had never seen or held a baseball bat or glove.

The overall layout in the building is disorganized and confusing to navigate. The hallways are not well-lit during the day, which doesn’t help. It is hard to believe that nearly half the babies in Kosovo are born here. But it is impressive that so many infants are safely guided into the world in a building that can’t even afford to have the “Gynecology Center” sign on the front replaced with letters that aren’t cracked and missing. It is more impressive, however, that they are being born safely at all.
