A citizen says that she can buy medicine at any pharmacy in capital, even if she does not have a doctor`s prescription. Even though she says she mostly buys Paracetamol or Ibupofen for which a prescription is not needed, she says that she also bought her father`s hypertension medicine without a prescription.

Young journalists partook in our workshop for creating surveys, databases, and data visualization, from the Keshif software. Under the leadership of Behar Xharra, co-founder of Keshif and Director of the operating system, the participants learned about “Small” and “Big Data” and the importance of using data effectively for demonstrating information for readers and viewers.

Behar has previously led innovation, data analytics, program development, and policy programing for various governmental, not-for-profit, and private sector organizations in 10 different countries. He is also a founding member of Germin, a nonprofit in Kosovo.

“Critical Media Literacy” in Kaçanik: Increasing awareness about identifying, evaluating and analyzing information

More than twenty youth from Kaçanik partook in our Critical Media Literacy workshop held at youth center “Shtepia e Shpreses” – in Kaçanik, who had the opportunity to analyze, evaluate and discuss the manner in which news is created and how it effects society. They reviewed the types of fake news, manners in which we ca fight fakenews, they took a quiz, where they had the chance to test their knowledge about fake-news, they analyzed case studies with fakenews and those that are unbiased.

By discussing the topics they will be reporting on this month, within their greater theme of “Children’s Rights”, they are learning more about human rights, and the process they need to follow for correct, responsible and unbiased reporting.
